Review: The Day – New London

Does anyone still own a water bed? Does anyone even REMEMBER water beds?

Creamery Station, the mellow collective of Nutmeg jamsters from Bethany, is a band whose music makes me want to fall back onto a water bed and luxuriate. Psilocybin optional.

You can, of course, identify the connective ancestral tissue in Creamery Station’s anatomy — the Dead, Blues Traveler, Allmans, Phish, the Band — but the Creamsters’ approach to songcraft includes a hooky, pop element that brings accessibility to a genre wherein extended improv can push the less patient in the crowd toward the exits.

See Creamery Station Friday in Norwich at the Strange Brew Pub as they continue to tour behind their “Pastures of Plenty” album.  Opening is a band called The Hobbits. Astoundingly, they are the only band in history to call themselves “The Hobbits.”

Creamery Station, 9 p.m. Friday, Strange Brew Pub, 86 Water St., Norwich; $5; (860) 222-8350.

  • Wow... What an amazing event at The Wall Street Theater this weekend! The venue was PACKED and the love was real. We couldn’t be happier with how our music was received and we definitely vibed off of it making us play even harder! Thanks to everybody that came out to the show, Manic Presents, Premier Concerts, the staff at Wall Street, and of course to the legends themselves.. The Marshall Tucker Band!!! These boys are not only incredible musicians, but really nice folks. They welcomed us into the MTB family with open arms and we couldn’t be more honored. Their guitar player Chris Hicks even sat in with us and tore the roof off the joint! You are the man, Chris. A kind soul and an absolute monster of a guitar player and singer! Nights like this are what make all of the early days loading in, late nights loading out, and constant practicing worth it. We are so lucky to have such a beautiful Station Nation family. Without all of you, we wouldn’t be on this journey. We love y’all so much! 🐮❤️👽
